Gabbard Riverfront Park, nestled against the picturesque backdrop of the river, is a beautiful space. It’s a place where families can gather, children play, and memories can be made. It comes with it’s problems, and that’s exactly what the City aims to address.
The mural is an eye-catching, beautiful piece of art that helps represent Aurora at Gabbard Riverfront Park. As many of you know, it had fallen into disrepair and had became hardly recognizable to what we all know and remember. Since then, it has been completely reconstructed by an artist out of Cincinnati, who was able to use old pictures to bring the vibrant piece of art back to life.
The mural is only one issue with Gabbard Park though, with drainage issues and the lack of soil for grass and trees to properly grow, this beautiful event space has given the City it’s fair share of problems, and we plan to revitalize it and bring it to it’s proper glory.
Working with multiple local companies as well as Landscape Architects, we are looking at how we can solve drainage issues, add additional soil for grass to properly grow (and considering turf!), adding electrical outlets for vendors, and ensuring it’s an enjoyable space to gather.
With Gabbard Riverfront Park in mind – we plan to look onward to Riverfront Development as icing on the cake.
